For more than 50 years, our family has been making salves with one simple goal: create products that truly work.
My dad, botanist Max Barlow, created the original Golden Salve over five decades ago. It became a trusted staple for many families because of its unique use of Lomatium and its remarkable reputation for nuturing and healing skin wounds of all kinds.

This is the very first salve my dad created.
Made with Lomatium herb in a petroleum jelly base, it has an exceptionally long shelf life and forms a waterproof protective barrier, making it especially useful for deep, infected skin wounds or compromised skin. Perfect for your emergency essential kit as well.

Built on the Golden Salve Natural base with the addition of the five essential oils that make up the classic Thieves blend: Clove, Cinnamon, Lemon, Rosemary, and Eucalyptus. Together, these oils complement the rich moisturizing base to nourish, soften, and protect dry, overworked feet and it smells like heaven!

Heart-A-Tatt is available in a generous 4 oz tin, our largest salve size, making it a favorite for those who use it often. You don't have to have a tattoo to have this salve ready for any skin issues/wounds/rashes you might have!

Created especially for our animal companions
Made with the Golden Salve Natural base, white beeswax, and lavender essential oil. It's designed especially for your pets and is safe if they happen to lick a small amount off.
Like Heart-A-Tatt, Luci's Salve comes in a 4 oz tin, our largest size. Most of our other salves are packaged in convenient 2 oz jars.

Essiac Salve
A specialized herbal skin salve
Contains coconut oil, shea butter, beeswax, the herbal oils of burdock root, turkey rhubarb, sheep sorrel, slippery elm, watercress, and bloodroot, along with frankincense and lavender essential oils. Many people choose this formula for challenging skin concerns (some that might start with the c word).
Essiac Skin Saver
"I have used this on various skin issues, but had a place on my ear that stayed sore and this salve resolved it over time and leaves skin smooth and hydrated. Used on some sun spots and they are almost gone now. Good stuff."

With the exception of Preparedness Balm, all of our salves contain Vitamin E, a nourishing antioxidant that helps support healthy-looking skin while also helping to protect the oils in the salve from oxidation. This natural preservative helps maintain the freshness and quality of the product without the need for synthetic preservatives.
A quick note about our herbal ingredients: Occasionally, depending on the seasonal availability of herbs, some of our salves may contain Chaparral oil in place of Lomatium oil. Both Lomatium and Chaparral have long been valued in traditional herbalism for their powerful antimicrobial properties, so you can feel confident knowing your salve continues to reflect the same commitment to quality and effectiveness.
