How to Clear Heavy Metals from Your Body

How to Clear Heavy Metals from Your Body

Let me introduce this topic by sharing with you a video with Dr. Brandon Nielsen about the importance of creating habits that will keep your heavy metals loads low.

Heavy metal toxicity may lead to physical, muscular and neurological degenerative processes. Some of these effects include: loss of memory, increased fatigue, digestive issues, depression, insomnia, chronic aches and pains and anemia. In fact, many symptoms we attribute to aging could point instead to heavy metal poisoning.

Potentially toxic metals include:

  • Mercury
  • Nickel
  • Cadmium
  • Lead
  • Uranium
  • Aluminum
  • Arsenic
  • Thallium

Heavy metal toxicity comes from exposure to environmental pollutants such as traffic fumes, air pollution, dental amalgam fillings, food contaminants (fish like tilefish, swordfish, king mackerel, bigeye tuna), processed foods, drinking water exposure, household products (adhesives, air conditioner filters, fabric softeners, felt, floor waxes/polishes, plastic toys, baking powder, aluminum foil, certain pots and pans) getting tattoos, certain cosmetic, health or personal care products (eyeshadow, antiperspirants, antacids) and possibly receiving certain vaccines.

Heavy metals enter your bloodstream, then travel throughout your body and penetrate the cells of various tissues and organs where they can remain stored for up to years.

There is no way to entirely avoid heavy metals, but there are many lifestyle factors you have control over.

Here are a few things you can do to limit or mitigate exposure:

1) Consume a diet rich in:

  • Vitamin C
  • Chlorella (Detoxifier)
  • Leafy green vegetables
  • Garlic & onions
  • Flax and chia seeds
  • Bone broth
  • Herbs and spices (basil, parsley, oregano, rosemary, thyme, ginger, turmeric, cinnamon and cilantro)
  • Raw juices
  • Detoxifying beverages (my favorite detox drink first thing in the morning - a glass of water with lemon juice, apple cider vinegar and if you're feeling brave...a squirt of Cayenne pepper tincture.)
  • Milk Thistle or Dandelion root tea (These are especially helpful as they support and detox your live!) You can also use the capsule form of both herbs or check out our LiverLove which contains both of them as well as a few other liver supportive/detoxification herbs.

2) Take activated charcoal, bentonite clay and Triphala. These are wonderful potential detoxifiers of heavy metals. Do a little research on each and educate yourself fully on what they do before you implement them.

3) Use infrared saunas, breathwork and exercise often. Some of my favorites!

4) Consider having chelation therapy.  This is probably one of the most effective ways to reduce serious heavy metal exposure, especially metals like lead, mercury, aluminum and arsenic.  It involves a chemical solution called EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid), which is typically administered directly into the bloodstream via injection. EDTA chelation therapy helps to eliminate metals by binding salts to molecules. After EDTA attaches to heavy metals, together they both move to the kidneys where they are eliminated through the urine.
Find a good practitioner to take you through the detoxification process using chelation therapy.

Heavy metal toxicity causes a wide range of health problems and it can be a good idea to see a doctor for testing if you have concerns about your heavy metals levels.  It is especially important for women who are considering becoming pregnant to know their heavy metal levels, since toxicity can contribute to developmental problems in newborns.  It is even recommended that pregnancy be delayed by at least a few months so work can be done on restoring normal levels first.

Start with what you consume through your food and drink and then begin to eliminate the household and personal care products that give you exposure to heavy metals.

Your body is amazing and has the ability to heal from anything.  Detoxification is an important step in being full of vitality, energy and good health.

It can seem overwhelming but start today and let the benefits compound!

In addition, here are some products we suggest for detoxification:

Here's how we would take them -

Detoxifier - start slow with 2 capsules twice a day. Every 7 days increase by one capsule each dose. For example - 3 capsules twice a day for the second week. Work up to 4 capsules 3 times a day and keep it there for 3 months. This will help the body release any heavy metals that are stored in the tissues and more importantly, the organs. There are 100 capsules in a bottle so you can do the math on how much you will need.

LiverLove - 2 capsules twice a day. At that dose, one bottle will last for 30 days. I would also stay on this for at least 3 months.

Smooth Cleanse - This is a two week (14 day) cleanse. Simply follow the instructions. Each bottle is enough for two cleanses so, you can set it aside for another cleanse 3 or 6 months down the road.

Truly Turmeric - This is pretty straightforward. Just take the suggested dose on the bottle. It's a good thing to take daily, but you can also just go through a bottle a few times a year.

I would also stay on LDM-100 daily. Especially with everything that's going on in the world, the body will appreciate the antimicrobial support it gives.
